The Rose McClendon sculpture, 14 inches high, is part of the permanent collection at Fallingwater. McClendon was one of the most famous black actresses in the country between 1920-1935. The solemn prayerful attitude of "McClendon" seems to have derived from Barthe's interest in capturing the spirituality of his subjects. The sculpture is suitable for indoors or outdoors, but it should be brought inside during the winter.
