The Rose McClendon sculpture, by Richmond Barthe, is part of the permanent art collection at Fallingwater. McClendon was one of the most famous black actresses in the country between 1920-1935. The solemn prayerful attitude of "McClendon" seems to have been derived from Barthe's interest in capturing the spirituality of his subjects. The reproduction sculpture is 14 inches high and is suitable for indoors or outdoors. The sculpture should be brought inside during the winter.
